The 2018 Houston Rodeo has arrived! It’s time for cowboy boots, fried Oreos, turkey legs, horse races, and anything and everything that has the word Texas on it! If this isn’t your first rodeo (pun intended), you know things run a lot smoother if you come prepared. If this will be your first time visiting this massive event, here are 5 things you should know to help make the best out of your day!
1. DOWNLOAD THE APP FOR MAPS, SCHEDULES, AND MORE!
If you don’t want to miss a second of the fun, your best bet is to download the RODEOHOUSTON app where you can purchase tickets, get easy access to maps, and most importantly, plan out your day based on the events scheduled during the time of your visit!
2. WHERE TO PARK
Read this and thank us later! The rodeo hosts over 2 million people each year, so it is no surprise that the vehicle situation can be pretty hectic for attendees. Save yourself a headache and use one of the “park & ride” locations, Uber, or catch a ride on the METRORail!
3. ADMISSION
You can purchase a grounds pass for $15 (children 2 and under are FREE) which will get you access to all the events on NRG Park except for the rodeo and concert. This is where you will find a variety of shows, livestock exhibitions, food, the carnival and much, much more! (They weren’t kidding when they said everything is bigger in Texas…)
Looking to watch one of your favorite singers perform LIVE? Purchase a Rodeo/Concert ticket to see an action-packed performance, featuring championship rodeo action and megastars in concert.
4. CONCERT LINEUP
Each year Houston is visited by some of the top pop, Latin, and country singers in the music industry just to come perform at the biggest rodeo show in the nation! This time around, artists like Blake Shelton, Alessia Cara, and Luke Bryan have been announced as part of the lineup amongst other top names! Tickets are available for purchase here.
5. WHAT TO EAT
Welcome to the Houston Rodeo, where you can practically eat everything and anything imaginable fried! Aside from watching the bull riding and diving into fun at the carnival, would you be able to say you went to the rodeo if you didn’t eat enough rodeo food to keep you full until the following week?! We can always count on the usual options like turkey legs, fried cheesecake, and of course all the BBQ you can want, but you might want to check out some of the new additions this year such as a bacon Nutella pickle, Flaming Hot Cheetos Roaster Corn, and rack of lamb with twice baked potato fries, Chicken gyro bowl, Falafel on a stick, and even gourmet popsicles!
