Can you guess the price of this Houston mansion once owned by ex-Texans QB Matt Schaub?

    What makes it unique:

A mansion previously owned by former Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub recently hit the market in Tanglewood, offering prospective buyers a rare opportunity to score big in one of Houston’s most prestigious neighborhoods. Homebuyers searching for more space often look west to Memorial for large lots, but this double-lot dotted with mature oak trees would give a buyer a chance to live closer to the city’s urban core and Galleria area, noted Ellie Riney, real estate agent with Nan and Company Properties’ RL Realty Group, which is co-listing the property with Dana Litwiller. Schaub, who played for the Texans from 2007 to 2014, sold the home in 2015. The current owners in 2021 bought the neighboring lot to create a combined 1.13-acre property. A structure on the neighboring lot was demolished and replaced with a man cave with wet bar and golf simulator, manicured landscaping and an outdoor entertainment area. “It’s one of the biggest lots (on the market) in Tanglewood,” Riney said. Also in 2021, the mansion got a $1.5 million makeover to modernize the interior design. The mansion boasts a full-home generator, an updated drainage system, a home gym with a motorized touch-screen entry and a gourmet kitchen with Wolf/Sub-Zero/Cove appliances and custom Eggersmann cabinetry. Outside, a mosquito system keeps bugs away to help residents and guests relax in the spacious backyard, which features a remodeled pool, hot tub, and an outdoor dining and kitchen area with new tile floors and outdoor speakers. The oak tree canopy is adorned with large globe lights to illuminate the patio. “It has some of the most beautiful oak trees in Tanglewood. It’s very peaceful and pretty,” Riney said.
