    HISTORIC SITES IN HOUSTON

The city of Houston is known for its wonderful attractions and beautiful surroundings that make it the premiere destination for visitors from all around the world; from the visual arts to nature’s best, Houston has everything to engage the senses and teach us about the world around us. If you’re looking for places to visit in Houston, here are some popular historic attractions and sites that will give you an insightful look into our world:

    HOUSTON MUSEUM OF NATURAL SCIENCE

Just north of the popular Hermann Park, the Houston Museum of Natural Science is home to over 20 unique exhibitions, all of which explores history within the scientific world from paleontology, to the workings of ancient historical civilizations. Some of the most popular exhibits within the Houston Museum of Natural Science include the Morian Hall of Paleontology—also known by visitors as the “Dinosaur Hall”—and the Cockrell Butterfly Center.

    THE MENIL COLLECTION

The Menil Collection is an art museum unlike any other. This unique art museum embraces the philosophy that an individual should take their own perspective from the works they see; to that end, the museum usually leaves pieces of art on display without didactics, or educational paragraphs you would normally expect to see posted near exhibits. The museum exhibits art pieces from a wide range of genres and backgrounds, from modern European art to art from the ancient Americas.

    SPACE CENTER HOUSTON

Space Center Houston—part of the NASA, Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center—offers visitors of all ages a chance to explore space right here on earth! With over 40 attractions, Space Center Houston has plenty of insightful and educational programs for anyone and everyone to enjoy. You can learn about Mars and get the chance to touch a real piece of the red planet or see the mission control room that helped launch the historic Apollo 11 in 1969.

No matter if your interest is in history, art, or science, Houston has it all! There are plenty of other popular attractions Houstonians enjoy, such as The Museum of Fine Arts, the Children’s Museum of Houston, and even the Houston Zoo and Downtown Aquarium. Need weekend plans?
