HOUSTON ASTROS WIN THE WORLD SERIES

It has finally happened. For the first time in the franchise history, our Houston Astros have won the World Series!

It has finally happened. For the first time in the franchise history, our Houston Astros have won the World Series! We can still hardly believe it's true!

In one of the most evenly matched and exciting World Series of all time, it seemed fitting that fans were treated to a winner-takes-all Game 7. In the end, it was Houston who clinched the title, defeating the Dodgers 5-1 in Game 7 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.

The motto "Earn History" has never felt more appropriate.

To mark this momentous occasion, Governor Greg Abbott has proclaimed November 3rd as Houston Astros Day, which happened to be the day of the team's World Series victory parade. Held in Downtown Houston, the city shut down with hopes of celebrating with family, friends, and of course our hometown heroes. The newly-crowned World Series champions rode on top of fire trucks, waving to the big crowds as colored confetti fell upon them. Hundreds of thousands of Houstonians came out to see the team, even if only for a few minutes.

During a time when the city is still recovering from the disaster of Hurricane Harvey, this victory couldn't have come at a more perfect time. Over two months ago, our city was buried in water. Hundreds of families were displaced, many of who lost everything. In search of some relief, we looked to the Astros to help take our minds off the severity we were dealing with. Wearing a Houston Strong patch on their uniforms, the team brought fans what they could: a distraction. Their game winnings may have seemed so small and so insignificant at the time, but they ended up being exactly we needed.

Over two months ago, the city felt nothing but loss. Today, we celebrate triumph.
