NAN VISITS NYC!
Two of our lovely agents, Viola Estrada and Natalie Garza, visited the famous Christie’s Auction House In New York City! As you can see in the Facebook Live video below, the Auction House was in the midst of 20th Century Week. In preparation for their spring auction, visitors could observe some of the most prominent pieces of the Post War, Contemporary, Impressionist and Modern eras, courtesy of Christies — our affiliate partner. Over 800 individual works were sold the following week, driving the 20th Century Art sales to a combined almost $842.5 million!
As you can see toward the beginning of the video, the Christie’s Rockefeller location features a grand limestone and bronze exterior with industrial steel and glass canopy. The 3-story building includes main sales rooms with double-height ceilings, two smaller salesrooms, private viewing rooms, and adaptable walls to accommodate exhibition space and galleries for the display of large artworks.
Christie’s 20th Century Week featured artwork from renowned artists like Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet, Wassily Kandinsky, Andy Warhol, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. As shown in the glass windows by Natalie, Pablo Picasso’s Femme assise, a portrait painted after the artist’s lover, ended up being sold for $45,047,500!
