After having to cancel festivities last year, the Mardi Gras celebration in Galveston, Texas is back and better than ever! From Friday, February 8th to Tuesday, March 1st, Galveston is throwing the third largest Mardi Gras celebration in the nation. This is the city’s 111th Mardi Gras celebration and it will have no shortage of incredible food, music, beads and crowds bursting with excitement. All of that combined with the gorgeous beaches and unbeatable views of the island, what could be better!
The first Mardi Gras celebration in Galveston was in 1867 and featured a masked ball, Shakespearean reenactments, and more! Most festivities take place in Galveston’s historic downtown in the Mardi Gras Entertainment District. Parades and other activities take place along the beachfront and Seawall Boulevard. Nan is joining in on the celebration by sponsoring our very own #NanFam float during the Krewe de Yaga’s Parade on February 25th at 9pm. Other festivities taking place on the 18th include a Salute to Texas for First Responders Day and the Danny Weber Memorial Fire Truck Parade in memory of Fire Chief, Danny Weber.
