Whether you’re celebrating this Valentine’s Day with a significant other, alone, or with friends, it should be a day of indulgence and fun. You deserve it! That’s why your lifestyle experts here at Nan and Company Properties/ Christie’s International Real Estate are giving you six fun activities around Houston that can work as a date night or a night out with friends!

1 .  Wine and Dine at 13 Celsius

This cozy wine bar is perfect for a date night. With an extensive wine list from all over the world, you can purchase by the bottle, glass, half glass or taste. The dimly lit restaurant makes for an intimate setting, perfect for one-on-one conversations! They also feature wine-centric dinner and hors d’oeuvres options that are ideal for sharing. They even have a s’mores platter where you melt the chocolate yourself over a small flame at your table. This place is perfect for couples who want to try somewhere new, or a first date where you can both participate in a fun activity to ease those first date jitters.

2. Have your Dog Tag Along!

Drinking at a bar with your dogs is a great way to break the ice and give you plenty of conversation starters. Houston has some of the best dog-friendly bars where both you and your dog can have a little fun. Surrounded by cute pups, you’ll have a great time no matter what! This is something that you can do with friends, your partner. West Alabama Ice House has a spacious yard with picnic table seating and metal buckets placed around the property for dogs to hydrate as they please. You can also fill up on the nightly taco truck out front.

This activity is ideal for couples who aren’t into the intimate cozy setting of a wine bar or restaurant. Houston Axe Throwing allows you to hurl axes at wooden targets, all while enjoying your favorite beer (you’ll have to drink your alcoholic beverages at a safe distance from the designated throwing areas, of course). This activity will leave you and your date with plenty to talk about and is also ideal for group settings.

5. James Turrell Twilight Epiphany Skyspace

You don’t always have to pay a pretty penny to have fun on a date. The James Turrell Twilight Epiphany Skyspace at Rice University has free admission and gives you a sunset display you won’t forget. Made of grass, concrete, steel and stone, this pyramid structure fits 120 people and projects an LED lightshow during every sunset and sunrise. The light sequence complements that of the colors that naturally occur in twilight. This is a unique experience that’s not just your average date! Click here for more information.

6. At-Home Date Night

Sometimes, there’s nothing more fun than just having a night in. Putting distractions aside and spending time with the people you love more often than not makes for the most meaningful and memorable nights. A nice dinner, candle lights, and Valentine’s themed cocktails can transform an ordinary night at home into a magical one. There are plenty of at-home cocktails that you can create so that you can still have all the fun of a night out without leaving your couch (and for a lot cheaper). One easy yet sophisticated drink you can make is a Hanky Panky For this 1930s staple, all you need is gin, sweet vermouth, Fernet-Branca and an orange. We hope you have a great Valentine’s Day no matter how you spend it!
