Since the COVID-19 virus began around the world, a large majority of people have been starting to work from home. For those who have never worked remotely before, it can be difficult to find motivation or to juggle a full household with school closures and partners who are also working from home. Below are a few tips on how you can stay motivated and organized when you WFH (Work From Home)!
1. Stick to a Routine
When there is no separation from your work space and your home space, it may be easy for your days to blend together and your normal routines to dissipate. It is important to try and stick to your daily routines, whether that is getting up early to work out, prepping meals, sticking to a sleep schedule, etc. When you start to abandon parts of your normal routine, it’s easy to find yourself suddenly falling into unhealthy and unproductive habits. This is a great way to try and maintain some thread of normalcy in your day to day.
2. Put your Mental and Physical Health First
Having limited access to the outside world takes a toll on most people, so keeping up with your health both physically and mentally is extremely important. Try to get outside for a walk or run, which gives you the opportunity to get some sun and stretch your legs. Fresh air is key for a good headspace! If your work calls for you to sit in front of a computer for long stretches of time, try to get up and stretch or move around every hour or so. It may be easy to slide down the slippery slope of constant snacking when working from home, but keeping your eating times structured and filled with healthy food is imperative to maintain your physical and mental health.
3. Schedule in Social Time
Just because we have to remain in our houses and practice social distancing during this time does not mean we should stop socializing altogether. We are social creatures and communicating with others plays a big part in our mental health. Try to schedule FaceTime or Skype calls with your family and friends during this time. You can even have a virtual happy hour with friends!
4. Change Your Mindset
Hopefully there will probably never be another time where there are so few outside-world distractions. If you change your mindset and take advantage of the fact that everyone is currently in the same situation and there is no need for FOMO, you can take this time and utilize it in a productive way. Be creative in your work or schooling, use this time to get ahead of the game and set yourself apart.
We hope these tips are helpful for all of those who are working from home. Just remember to prioritize your health, as this is a difficult time for everyone. On behalf of everyone here at Nan and Company Properties, we hope you stay safe and healthy!
