This June, they have two incredible free community events that you and your family will not want to miss.
WHO IS BIKEHOUSTON AND WHAT IS THEIR MISSION?
BikeHouston is a Houston-based nonprofit organization with a powerful and clear mission: to transform Houston into a city where anyone, regardless of who they are or where they live, can safely and easily get around by bike.
Bicycling is already one of the healthiest and most efficient modes of transportation available, and BikeHouston believes it can also become the most convenient and accessible. But today, Houston's bikeway network still lacks the connectivity needed to make cycling a truly viable option for everyone who wants to ride.
That is exactly why BikeHouston is working tirelessly to address gaps in Houston's bike network, tackle urgent traffic safety challenges, and educate Houston's decision makers about what matters to people on bikes.
With average temperatures between 50 and 80 degrees nine months of the year and famously flat terrain, Houston was made to be a world-class bicycling city. BikeHouston is making sure Houston lives up to that potential.

EVENT 1: FAMILY BIKE RIDE | I LOVE 11TH STREET FESTIVAL | HOUSTON HEIGHTS
Kick off one of Houston's most beloved neighborhood festivals the best way possible, on two wheels. 🚲
Join Bike Freedom Academy and BikeHouston for a FREE family group ride to celebrate 11th Street and kick off the I Love 11th Street Festival in the Houston Heights neighborhood.
📍 Meet at: Regions Bank | 301 W 11th St, Houston Heights
🕣 Onsite Gathering: 8:30 AM
🚲 Ride Start: 9:00 AM
📏 Distance: ~3.5 miles
👨👩👧 All ages welcome!
What you need to know:
• Registration is FREE but required
• Helmets are required for all riders
• Parents must accompany riders under the age of 15
• Kids should be on pedal bikes — no training wheels please
• Very young riders are welcome in parent bike seats, trailers, or cargo bikes

EVENT 2: FIRST SUNDAY RIDE | NORTHEAST HOUSTON
BikeHouston's beloved First Sunday Ride is back, and this month it is launching from a brand new location in northeast Houston.

Join fellow Houston cyclists for a free group ride through northeast Houston, a part of the city that does not always get the spotlight it deserves. Whether you are a seasoned rider or just getting back on the bike, the First Sunday Ride is always free, always welcoming, and always a great way to experience Houston from a completely different perspective.
The First Sunday Ride is free and open to the public. No registration required, just show up, bring your bike, and ride.
