8 Ways to Beautify Your Rental

Quick and easy things you can do to enhance your rental experience and personalize your space.
April 27, 2022

Since leasing implies that you will eventually vacate a rental apartment or house, it can be difficult to justify spending a great deal on the decor. But that shouldn't stop you from making the space your own! Here are eight quick and easy things you can do to enhance your rental experience and personalize your space.

Swap out Cabinet Knobs

This is such a simple trick that can add so much personalization to your space. Most knobs are easily interchangeable and can be swapped out for a cuter option that fits your style. Knobs can be found at nearly every home improvement store, and even thrift stores for vintage options!

Purchase a New Shower Head

Shower heads seem like small things, but swapping them out for a slightly more expensive one is the perfect way to elevate the bathroom space and your shower experience! You can find a wide variety of them at varying prices on Amazon

Add Greenery

If you live in an apartment, you may be lucky enough to have a patio with green space if you’re on the first floor, but otherwise you may not have much green space. Adding plants in your home is the perfect way to, quite literally, add life to the space! If you’re worried you may not have a green thumb, just do some research to find the type of plants that thrive indoors. And if that fails, you can always go with fake plants!

Tile a Removable Backsplash

If you’re good at DIYs, this one's for you. Peel-and-stick tile is the easiest way to DIY your kitchen or bathroom backsplash.. The “tile” can be removed when you move out, hassle-free! This option is inexpensive and very renter-friendly.

Swap Light Switch Plates

Similar to changing the cabinet knobs, swapping light switch plates helps add a little bit more personality to your space.   The originals can be stored until the lease is up.

Install LED Strip Lights in the Kitchen

A long strip of stick-on LED lights can be attached right underneath the cabinets, helping to brighten the space and give it an overall more upscale look. These can be found for as little as $20. They can be easily removed when it’s time to move out!

Find Cute Under-Bed Storage Bins

One of the downsides of an apartment can sometimes be the lack of storage space. To avoid clutter, finding under-the-bed storage bins is the perfect solution. The temptation will be to just go get those plastic tubs and be done with it, but finding slightly more attractive ones will help you keep the room tidier.

Paint Floating Shelves The Color of The Wall

Simple, rectangular floating shelves can be sourced very inexpensively from places like IKEA and Amazon; by simply matching them to the wall color, they'll look custom-installed.
