WE STAND WITH NEPAL
It was only two months ago when a devastating earthquake hit Nepal, killing nearly 9,000 people and injuring 23,000 others. The 7.8 magnitude earthquake is recorded as the worst natural disaster to hit the area in 80 years. The disaster left the region’s infrastructure in shambles and hundreds of thousands of people homeless.
To raise money and awareness about the ongoing needs of the people of Nepal, philanthropist and Nan and Company Properties founder, Nancy Almodovar, hosted the “Party with a View for Nepal Earthquake Charity” event. Dozens of people gathered at the swanky, state-of-the-art Nan and Company Properties offices in the BBVA Compass building on Thursday, June 25th to support the effort.
Women and men kicked off the start of summer by enjoying refreshments, networking and getting a few cosmetic touchups with the help of Botox treatments. The event raised over $3,000, which will go to the Linking the World charitable organization. Linking the World provides humanitarian aid for communities in transition where conflict, disaster, political upheaval or economic collapse has occurred.
“As a realtor, I know the value of having a place to call home. There is a sanctity and sense of security in being able to go home, and many of the Nepal earthquake victims no longer have that so I wanted to do something to help them,” says Almodovar.
Facial plastic surgeon Dr. Sanaz Harirchian offered cosmetic consultations and enhancements, and Layla Asgari of Sweet Suri Jewels was also a sponsor.
