    River Oaks Neighborhood Tour

    The prestigious neighborhood of River Oaks is situated between Uptown and Downtown Houston. This neighborhood was established by Will Hogg and Michael Hogg, sons of the former Texas Governor Jim Hogg, in the 1920s and has withstood the test of time as one of Houston’s most prestigious neighborhoods. For years it has continued to be listed as one of the wealthiest areas in Texas. Join us this week as we take a look at some of our favorite spots to eat, shop, and hang out in the River Oaks neighborhood. 
     

    Bebidas

    Located on the corner of Edloe St and Westheimer Rd, in the heart of River Oaks, this coffee shop offers various juices, smoothies, coffee, and food like their acai bowl and avocado toast. With a cute outdoor patio area, you can enjoy your breakfast or snack outside with friends. 

    Barnaby’s Cafe – River Oaks

    This restaurant, named after the owner’s childhood furry friend, Barnaby. This dog-friendly restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner with dishes like “Homemade Spinach and Cheese Lasagna” and “Mexican Carnitas Torta”; there is something for everyone. 

    State of Grace

    The first Houston restaurant from restaurateur Ford Fry, State of Grace Houstonians a freshly unique culinary experience with dishes such as “Bay Scallops” and  “Iberico Pork Secreto.” The elaborate drink menu includes cocktails like the “Southside, Antique,” which features treaty oak waterloo antique gin, lemon, mint, and grapefruit bitters.

    River Oaks District High-End shops

    This high-end shopping center is home to luxury designer stores such as Cartier, Harry Winston, and Dior, and popular restaurants like Steak 48, Bisou, and Le Colonial. For more entertainment, stop by the iPic theater and enjoy comfortable movie theater seating with gourmet food and handcrafted cocktails. 

    Tiny Boxwoods

    Open for brunch, lunch, and dinner, enjoy outdoor seating by the open lawn space and flower nursery next door. For brunch with friends, try the “Pastry Board,” which comes with your choice of three pastries, whipped honey butter, Devonshire cream, and house jam. They also have an extensive selection of coffee and tea when you need some caffeine!
