TRENDING NOW IN HOUSTON: MODERN HOMES

Modern homes have increasingly become the new trend in Houston as the city’s housing market has recently started to boom, and it all started with a shift in interior design trends. Instead of the interior of a home being inspired by a strictly traditional style, designers began to blend a little of the contemporary. In essence, the former trend was to mix the old with the new—vintage with the modern. Sooner rather than later, the modern style started to take over what we once knew as the traditional design. Modern interior design spread throughout all areas of the home, from the kitchen, to the living room. Later, the modern concept moved to the exterior; eventually, it became a well-known trend to have fully modern homes.

    Modern Homes: Interior

Modern homes are defined by their simplicity and efficiency. This is based off of the modern home’s primary defining characteristic:“open concept.” Open concept homes utilize the maximum amount of space within the home because of its lack of walls that would normally divide traditional rooms. For example, the living room may be opened up to the dining room. Some modern homes even use multi-functional rooms; that is, rooms that could easily be used for different purposes or converted. A sitting room could be doubled as an entertainment center. A bedroom could be turned into an office space.

    Modern Homes: Exterior

Modern homes also take a different approach to its exterior design that makes it unique from previous architectural trends. The outside of modern homes you’ll find in Houston have become more “personalized”—you no longer see similar “cookie-cutter” homes in one community. Each home is different to its adjacent neighbors.

In Houston, you will find a modern-inspired home everywhere you go. Modern homes are being more developed as the demand for housing near Houston’s downtown and suburb regions have increased. In addition, the modern home has become the aesthetically desired home to match Houston’s booming city. While it is not quite time to say goodbye to traditional homes, it is definitely time to start embracing the new modern design.
