Your Guide to Relaxing at Home

During this stressful time, who doesn’t need a bit of relaxation? Decompressing your mind and body is a must when it comes to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Even if you are unable to visit your spa or go get drinks with your friends just yet, that does not mean you can’t implement relaxing routines in your current day to day. Here is our list of activities you can practice at home or at your local park to unwind and decompress!

    1. Meditate

Whether it be actual meditation or just quiet alone time, carving out time without distractions, like phones or television, is extremely important when it comes to decompressing. There are tons of great apps you can listen to that provide guided meditation such as  breathing exercises, mindfulness activities, and more. Meditation can also come in the form of journaling. Any form of activity that helps you disconnect from the everyday stresses and focus on yourself is one that will prove useful in maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

    2. Exercise

Even if you have to drag yourself off the couch…this is a must! It can be as simple as going for a walk outside or just doing some floor exercises in your living room. Getting your body up and moving releases endorphins in your brain, making you feel better physically and mentally. Once you create a habit of it, you will find that you will not even need to force yourself to do it! Daily stretching is also a wonderful way to get blood flowing, and an important thing to get up and do every hour or so when you are working.

    3. Read

Reading is a perfect way to unwind and relax. A good book has the ability to transport you to another place, and that is something that can be comforting in times like this. If lengthy novels intimidate you, try reading articles online covering topics that interest you or check out your favorite digital magazines. It’s a form of entertainment that requires a deeper focus than watching television does, which in turn helps you enter into a more relaxed state.

    4. Gardening

Growing plants, inside or outside, is not only fun but also a great source of relaxation. No matter what climate you live in, there are plants you can raise and watch grow. It is a rewarding activity that forces you to work in some relaxation time in your daily routine.

We hope these ideas have given you some inspiration when it comes to taking time for yourself. Remember, all of the above activities are exceptionally beneficial no matter what is occurring around you. The key is to stay positive and keep the body and mind active with meaningful and focused activities!
